Abstract

The diagnosis of acute appendicitis in toddlers (children under three years old) is extremely difficult. Early symptoms are frequently obscured by communication obstacles, and the traditional clinical appearance is rarely seen. As a result, there are many misdiagnoses, which raises the risk of perforation and peritonitis. Although ultrasonography (USG) and the Pediatric Appendicitis Score (PAS) are common diagnostic instruments, their individual usefulness in this particular age group is still up for debate
