Abstract

Background: Acute appendicitis is a common complaint among emergency department patients. To study the role of CRP-level in diagnosis.

Methods: The source of data was from pretested proforma which takes into account clinical history, general physical examination, relevant investigations, imaging modalities.

Results: CRP test sensitivity was 94.00%, specificity was 86.00 %, positive predictive value was 94.00%, negative predictive value was 70.00% and diagnostic accuracy was 94.00%.

Conclusion: raised serum C-reactive protein reducing the rate of negative explorations.
